Cynthia Pedlikin

November 24, 1940 - September 11, 2025

Cynthia Pedlikin passed peacefully in her sleep the morning of September 11th, 2025 at age 84. She was a longstanding resident of Peaks Island, Maine, but spent her final years at The Grande in South Portland.

Cindy was born in Portland on November 24, 1940 and moved to Springfield, Massachusetts when she was 14. She received her Bachelors Degree from the University of Connecticut then taught elementary school in Connecticut. While teaching she met her beloved husband, Howard, through her roommate Caroline, his sister. They married on December 19, 1965. Cindy followed Howard throughout his career as an Air Force Officer, including multiple stints as president of the Officers Wives Club and PTA. She was involved in various Jewish temples and causes, especially in Lexington at Temple Emunah where the family settled after Howard retired. She worked in elementary schools throughout her life and was passionate about education.

While stationed at Air Force Bases across the country, Cindy and Howard welcomed 3 sons into the world. She is survived by all three – Phil, Joel, and Ira, their wives, Adrianne, Megan and Tina, as well as her elder sister, Sandy. She is survived by her grandchildren, Lena, Ethan, Caleb, Oscar, Jonah, and Noah. She is also survived by her great-granddaughter, Violet, an accomplishment she was most proud of. She joins those who predeceased her – her husband, her parents, Bertha and Philip, and her sister, Ellen.

Her burial service will be on Monday, September 15th, 2025 at noon at Beth El Memorial Park, 1 Johnson Rd in Portland, Maine. For donations in her name, please consider the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra where a fund had previously been established in Howard’s name, or Peaks Island Tax Assistance.
