Enoch Zvi Zuchman, 81, passed away peacefully in Atlanta on May 9th, holding the hands of all of his beloved girls. He was born in Queens, NY in 1944, and moved to Maine as a young man where he met his future wife, Jocelyn. He graduated from the University of Maine and was recruited by Ebasco Services where he worked for 27 years. After he got his pilot’s license, he began a long and successful career as a nuclear power plant engineer. As a manager he was very well respected for his work ethic, integrity, and fairness, and great intelligence. As a dad, he passed along those lifetime values to his three daughters. He was not a man to brag about his own work but was very proud of and in awe of his daughters and quick to take out his phone and show pictures and talk about their lives and work.
His job took him and Jocelyn to homes in Kentucky, New York, New Jersey, Florida and Georgia, but his favorite place of all was Maine where after retirement he spent many happy summers with his family and friends. He was a passionate sports fan interested in all teams and followed every sport from football to roller derby.
Enoch leaves behind his wife Jocelyn of 57 years and his daughters, Allison, Lauren, and Meredith; his granddaughter Zoie; his brother Lewis; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Ruth and Dan. He is also survived by Sarah, Paul, Miles, and Chad, all so important in his life as well as many cousins in the Pluznick, Bergeron, and Bornstein families and special, long time friends from college and Portland.
Enoch was a good man, loyal and true, and will be remembered always for his values and quiet joy and love of family and friends, and forever for the impression he made on all of us who loved him dearly. If you choose to make a donation in his honor, contributions can be made to Southern Maine Jewish Cemetery Association Capital Fund at SMJCA.org.
