Sally Ellen Sandler Bitan passed away after her battle with ovarian cancer on August 3rd, 2026 in her home in Falmouth, Maine. We will remember her as fiercely loving, independent and proud. She was passionately devoted to her faith, her family, her apple trees, and her dogs.
Sally was born in Buffalo, New York to the late Gloria and Charles Sandler on August 4th, 1952. She completed her Bachelors in English at SUNY Buffalo in 1975 and her Masters in Creative Problem solving in 1980. She worked as a teacher and was a home maker for her family. She loved walking in local parks and volunteered for the Falmouth Parks and Community Programs Advisory Committee
Sally is survived by her sister, Alison Sandler; her children, Keren and Eliav, along with their spouses; and her beloved grandchildren.
She was buried in a private ceremony at Temple Beth El Memorial Park on August 5th. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Portland Chevra Kadisha or your local park. Her family extends a special thank you to the teams at New England Cancer Specialists, Rayyus Vascular and Hospice of Southern Maine, as well as her neighbors and friends who supported us with tremendous love and care through her final months.
